Eva is from the Netherlands and has spent part of her gap year in Costa Rica. She decided the 3 week course was the perfect opportunity to brush up on her cooking skills. She is a graduate of the 3 week Culinary Skills Certificate (February 2016). Here she tells us about her experience of the course…
Tell us about your gap year
I’ve been involved in a volunteering project in Costa Rica and thought the culinary skills course was a good opportunity to travel again and learn some new skills.
Do you cook at home?
Yes I love cooking, my favourite thing to cook is fresh pasta but I’m looking forward to expanding my skills in the kitchen.
Are you considering a food career?
I would never say never, but I’m mainly doing the course to improve my overall cooking skills whilst on my gap year.
What were your reasons for choosing White Pepper?
The course content was very comprehensive, we have covered a lot in 3 weeks. I liked that it wasn’t too long but that it was intensive enough to learn so many new skills. I didn’t want to take a year long course but I wanted something longer than a day or a weekend, so it was the perfect balance.
What have you most enjoyed about the course?
All the nice people on the course and at the cookery school, and the amount of different skills I have gained.
What skills do you feel have most developed?
Everything. Before, I just made pasta but now I have made more different things than I’ve ever done in my whole life. Skills like butchery and fish filleting have been particularly useful.
