Last Wednesday evening we were joined by local food and drink producers who shared the challenges and successes of running a food business, giving an eye-opening insight into what it’s really like to start, manage and grow a business.
The event was open to Dorset Food & Drink members and students from our 3 week Chef Academy course, some of which have plans to set up their own food enterprise. Tom Amery from The Watercress Company and Brace of Butchers gave an inspiring talk about his involvement in the food industry and his own experience of running multiple food businesses.
Everyone had the chance to share tips, advice and experience with like-minded members, discussing everything from marketing and branding to product and distribution. Thank you to Dorset Food & Drink who helped organise the event, and also to everyone for coming along. A big thank you also goes to Lara Jane Thorpe, Jane Somper (Goldhill Organics) and Mark Banham (Morrish & Banham) who also took to the stage to share their business stories.
We’re hoping to hold another event in the summer for Dorset Food & Drink members and Chef Academy students.
