On Dorset’s doorstep…

One of our favourite ingredients for the coming spring and summer will be a cold pressed rapeseed oil from Sherborne. This gold coloured, smooth and nutty oil has so much going for it! Not only does it clock up zero food miles but it contains half the saturated fats of olive oil. It is higher than olive oil in omega 6 and 9 and has traces of vitamin E, where olive oil has none. If that wasn’t enough, the flavour is excellent!

From a cooking point of view it is also much more versatile, having a higher smoke point means it can be used for a greater number of recipes. I should mention that it makes a great vinaigrette and dressing. If you dont want to make your own, Mr Filberts have done the work for you, just visit their website through our friends page. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have at White Pepper Cookery School.
